Today is Christmas Eve. It is a time when the family gathers around us to welcome the Christ into our conversations and homes. We finished preparing for our welcomed guest. It is time to celebrate greatness. The very image of God comes to us, and we welcome Him in.

Tonight, there is much to celebrate. We attend church services to observe the presence of our Savior. We also spend a little extra time with loved ones as we share words of hope with our beloved sisters and brothers in the faith. This evening, we express our love and gratitude for each person who shares a special place in our hearts.

Moments of weariness I experienced during the Advent season vanish as I focus on the reason for the season. We celebrate the Messiah’s birth. The One who set us free from the things that bind us started in a stable in Bethlehem. The Son of God is in the world and the flesh. How can we not take the time to observe a miracle happening right before our eyes?

In this time of uncertainty, let us set aside our differences and come together to embrace His presence. In our adoration, we feast, enjoy the company of friends and family, and rest from our labor. Let us not forget that somewhere at night, allow for some quiet time with our creator. Soak in the reality that He came into the world for all of us and not to gain celebrity status. He came tonight to remind us of all that grace came to us in the form of a baby. Take in the holy presence of our God in the flesh.
