The fantastic food at Pico de Gallo in San Antonio, Texas made my first night and the start of my second day memorable. As my late mother-in-law taught me to say, “Mi panza llena en mi corazon muy contento.” The restaurant was decorated with bright Christmas lights on the roof, and several women made fresh tortillas for guests as they arrived. The servers made the meal even more enjoyable, especially as I kept complimenting the delicious fajitas they brought to my table.
Today, I began reading “Grateful” by Diana Butler Bass. The introduction caught my interest as she talked about the assumptions she and others in the church have about gratitude. I’m looking forward to reading more tomorrow. While traveling between San Antonio and Houston, I listened to two chapters from “The Road Back to You,” which covered Enneagram types 1 and 2. I hope to learn more about the enneagram and use what I learn in spiritual direction. I’ll share more about these ideas in a future post.
Later in the day, I focused on family. Visiting my cousin was the highlight. She has faced some serious health challenges, so I knew it was important to see her and her wonderful husband. We talked about life, family, and so much more. As she spoke, I listened closely to her wisdom. I value her friendship deeply.
I ended the evening with dinner with my sister. We had a great time talking about getting older and the wisdom that comes with it. I enjoyed our conversation, just the two of us. We can talk freely without putting on a show for anyone else. Honest conversations like this mean a lot to me.
Here’s to whatever adventures tomorrow brings.
