Gratitude for Great Friends

Yesterday one of the dearest people on the planet visited me at my church. I’m talking about Theresa Cronin. She, along with her husband Russ, attended one of the services at Rio Rancho United Methodist Church. I begged her silence as we have sworn each other to secrecy regarding the adventures that we shared at the music conventions in Texas. There are some things that are left better unsaid.

After church, the “fam” and I went to eat with Theresa and Russ and laughed and caught up on old times. It was a wonderful experience to be with someone who knows me so well, and loves me in spite of myself. That is the beauty of great friends. They speak into the deepest parts of who you are and remind you that you are loved as you are. You have worth. You matter.

Today, I am grateful for the wonderful people in my life that I call “friends.” I am grateful for the legacy and wisdom that they speak into my life. There is a sense of tremendous gratitude for the blessings that enrich my spirit and encourage me to live as my authentic self. Praise be to God for the many ways that my soul is renewed by the men and women who come into my life, only to leave it better because they were present.

I encourage all of you to enjoy the community that gathers around each of you to share your life’s journey. Let people know how important they are to you. Don’t let the opportunity pass you by to be a blessing to the world around you. Let your light illumine to a world that needs to experience the true meaning of friendship and love. This is the most important part of who we are; sharing our world with those around us. It is in the giving of ourselves, God is made known.
