Today we went to Carlsbad Caverns. I haven’t walked as far as we hiked in many years. At times the path is steep and often requires careful attention to each footfall. We took our time and observed the beauty that surrounded us. Each rock formation was a work of art, timeless in its wonder.
As I looked at all of the splendor around me, I couldn’t help but think that our inner lives reflect the majesty of the caverns. We must pay careful attention to how we journey to the most central part of our spirit, and once we are there we separate ourselves from who the world says we are and then gaze at the beauty within. Our souls have their own wonder. It is up to us to reflect the divinely inspired work of God, which begins in our deepest selves. At the wellspring of our souls is life springs of living water that many times go untapped.
Today, I give thanks for all of the blessings that surround me. I am grateful for the creative design that God continues to etch into my soul. Each stroke of the brush are vital to who I am as a child of God. Every stalagtite, every stalagmite, and every column brilliantly made to be a vital part of the beauty that is created within me. The caverns may have their unique designs, but so do I. After all, I am made in the image of God. How much more awesomeness is their left?
I hope that we all take a moment in the wilderness and take in the promises of God. May you know that the Creator continues to develop an amazing design in each of us. Hopefully, we may remember Devine splendor in our lives, and live into our richest potential. Praise be to God, who continues to breathe hope into our deepest parts. Let us continue the journey as we grow in the knowledge that we are loved beyond our wildest dreams.
